Grant Information

Our Mission

In October 2019, Dr. Kristen Walker was awarded a $230,000 grant from the National Science Foundation to explore the education technology adoption process in K-12 schools with a focus on student's privacy. It is no secret that the use of education technology can be of net benefit to K-12 student's and our goal is to study how decisions on education technology are made in California schools, and if these processes can be improved to better protect students data.

The K-12 Privacy Team's mission is to uncover the education technology adoption process at California public school districts, through both primary and secondary research, and offer ways that the process can be improved with student data and information protection in mind.
